Burning a copy of your SOAPware Databases to a CD.


The information in this article applies to:  Burning Databases to a CD.

SITUATION

1.  To create a backup with the Data Manager, go to:  Start > Programs > SOAPware > Server > Data Manager > Login > you should now see the Data Manager window and be in the Backup Tab > select a Backup Location (default: C:\ProgramFiles\DOCS\DataManager\Backup) > click Backup > once complete you will see a message "Backup Complete" > Close Data Manager.

2.  Open My Computer > go to the directory that you backed-up into > select the first file  > hold the Shift-Key on the keyboard and click the last file in the list - all Backup files should now be highlighted > Right-Click on the highlighted files > click Send To > click CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, or DVD-RW > you should see a message appear by the clock stating "You have files waiting to be written to CD".

3.  Click on the new CD icon that appeared with the Message Balloon > a window will appear listing the files that are ready to be written to CD > click File > click "Write these files to CD" > the CD Writing Wizard window will appear > type in a CD name > click Next > the CD burning process will begin.  If no blank CD is in the drive or a unreadible CD is in the drive - you will be prompted to place the correct media in the drive > when the burning process is complete it will ask if you would like to burn another copy, if not click Finish.  You now have an external Backup of your SOAPware Databases, for your personal use or to store in a safe.
